Use of Information
Data is collected to enable us to constantly improve our service and products, while ensuring that you are only sent the information that you want. We also collect the information you agree to share with us such as feedback and market research, or questions and information you provide for customer support.
We may also use personal information for the following purposes:

- To respond to customer service requests
- To send promotional messages and newsletters you request

Where websites have implemented Google Analytics with other Google Advertising products, like AdWords, additional advertising identifiers may be collected. Users can opt-out of this feature and manage their settings for this cookie by using the Ads Settings (https://adssettings.google.com/). For more information, please go to https://policies.google.com/technologies/types.
Google Analytics also collects Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses to provide and protect the security of the service, and to give website owners a sense of which country, state, or city in the world their users come from (also known as “geolocation”). Google Analytics provides a method to mask IPs that are collected but website owners have access to their users’ IP addresses even if the website owners do not use Google Analytics.
We store the personal information we collect for as long as is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we originally collected it. For example, if you register for an account with us, we will generally maintain the information in your user profile as long as needed to service your account. We may also retain personal information as required by law. Please note that if you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Protection of Data
Superyacht Storytellers uses appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information that we collect and process. These measures are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risk of processing your personal information. For example, our Website uses Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (“HTTPS”), the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and any website to which you connect. Using HTTPS means that all communications between your browser and our Website are automatically encrypted.
In addition, the Website is hosted on a private server rather than a shared commercial server, the latter being more common and more susceptible to common data breaches. Superyacht Storytellers also contracts with a web hosting company whose policy is to swiftly shut down the site’s server if necessary, for example, if a hacker succeeded in uploading a virus to infect the Website.
If a breach were to occur, Superyacht Storytellers would make reasonable efforts to notify all registered users affected by the event and provide information regarding what steps were taken to rectify the situation.
Disclosure of Your Personal Information
We will not disclose your personal information to any unrelated third parties unless we have your consent to do so, with the following exceptions:
- Service providers who provide services to us under a contract and are required to keep the personal information confidential, including but not limited to companies we hire to protect our systems and Services;
- If reasonably necessary to comply with an applicable law, regulation, or compulsory process (for example, to respond to a subpoena);
- To exercise, establish, or defend our legal rights;
- If we conclude your actions violate our user agreements or policies, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Superyacht Storytellers or others;
- In connection with a merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or a portion of our business, provided that the receiving party agrees to protect personal information in accordance with the commitments of this policy and applicable law.
Our Website server is located within the United States, as are our third-party service providers and partners. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service, also located within the United States. Therefore, when we collect your personal information, everything that is processed takes place within the US.
Legal Basis for Processing
We will only collect, store, or otherwise process your personal information in the following situations:
- When we have your consent to do so. For example, if you opt-in to receive promotional emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time as described below, or directly through the Services.
- We need to use your personal information to perform our responsibilities under our contract with you (e.g., providing the products or services you have requested).
- We have a legitimate interest in processing your personal information. For example, we may process your personal information to communicate with you about our Services; and to provide, secure, and improve our Services.
- We are required by law to process the information.
Your Rights and Choices
If you have an account on this Website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Access and Deletion Requests
You can update, correct, or delete information we have about you or close your account by contacting us with the subject line “Privacy Rights.” When necessary to identify you, we may request that you give proof of your identity or require more information from you that is necessary to handle your request.
You can opt out of receiving promotional emails by following the instructions in those messages. If you opt out of receiving promotional emails from us, we may still send you non-promotional emails.

However, some of the features of our online Services may not work or may be more difficult to access if you refuse all cookies.
